Just loooove ma kids - our 1500 mile road trip pics and a confession
So the whole trip started off from Toronto, Canada to Irving, Texas....my family has been residing in Toronto since the early 1970's...beautiful Toronto:

Toronto....how I miss thee......
We stopped over in Chicago for a day at Talha Ali's place. He was smart enough to arrange a nice bbq on Saturday. Looks like he never took BBQ-101 and nearly burnt a tree....j/k....Met some old buddies and kr156's xanga seems to be popular amongst the Chicago youth.
Pic of Chicago, which is not as good as Toronto. I was in Chicago for four years at www.cpasonline.com

Moved on towards St. Louis and then to Tulsa. Some pics of the journey:

the above pic is just soo soothing....
the siratul mustaqeem (straight path) to Texas :)

picture of my masha allah...subhanallah...alhamdulillah....(those words keep on ringing in ma head...a cpsa joke) two little cuties....that's ma boy Rayhan and sweet little Kulthoom at a rest area...not as cute as their parents though :)

that's both of them snoring away...we had taken out the two middle seats from our minivan....

both of the cuties again:

yo Rayhan! what's up with that face?

Finally arrived in Texas a.k.a. the "Lone Star State"

I can't tell you how we felt when we saw the following sign:

cause as soon as we had left Toronto, Rayhan kept on saying like for the next 1400 miles..."are we there yet?"....
nearly there:

man...the water towers really help out in finding places...and finally....we arrived at the house:

lol.......yeah right!.....you wish!!...in my dreams
the following pic is for my British buddies....yup that's right....count all the lanes there...unlike England with it's narrow roads....oh well....I shouldn't rip on England cause I spent a decade there...and it is there where I became what I am today.....overweight...

we had our laptop hooked up to the cigarette lighter by using a power inverter...really handy stuff....think he was watching the Finding Nemo cartoon....notice his left leg on the soccer ball...trying to indoctrinate him with the love for the best sport in the world....

that's masha allah cute little Kulthoom at Talha's place:

Ok...now the confession of a ......maulana....I'm suffering from a slight sickness of I think... schizophrenia...something like...me, myself, and I....For those who have visited this xanga previously, you might have seen the word Abdullah under my name. Well, I am Abdullah (Slave of Allah), but my real name is Nazim Mangera. I put up Abdullah because I had not finalized my move to Irving when my xanga kicked off. I completed my Hifz and I’m also considered to be a Sheikh/Maulana. My four brothers are Hafizes as well as scholars. Though I have been asked many times by those who know me personally after joking around with them that, “Are you sure you’re a Maulana?”……lol… oh well….it’s life….Now…I need to go and edit some of my previous postings and comments ……
I was really surprised to get my internet service up and running so fast here in Irving. I remember when I moved from Toronto to Chicago like five years ago, it took me for ever to get my internet service up and running. And my phone line....man....don't even get me going...that took even longer...for 25 days....I was on the pay phone trying to get it started....sent them soo many docs and stuff. The problem was that the Muslims who were living before us in the condo that we moved into had raked up a huge phone bill and moved out....long story short...after 25 days of frustration...I still remember that day...as if it was like yesterday....I was on the phone with the customer rep...I had just faxed like ten pages of stuff...and the rep was still saying that we can't activate your service....at that moment....an inspiration hit me...and I told the rep....i've been trying since like the last 25 days...and have spent like tons of hours on the phone....and today....after you telling me that I still can't get it activated....i feel like....i feel like....committing suicide.....seriously....i said that....i was just kind of like frustrated...and come to think of it...I probably was feeling all horrible and stuf...i don't know....so the rep goes...can you please hang on....and that same day....the home phone was up and running...lol....disclaimer.....that was a one time thingy...and I am in no way incouraging you to do the same thing.....
ok..that post was long as .....I'm a shaykh...so I wont write it....shucks...i can't be myself now....one final pic before I take off for Jumuah prayer....Imam Zaid Shakir's at our Masjid for Jumuah and Shaykh Hamzah Yusuf is in town as well for a program at Richerdson Masjid...both are such studs and great tag team partners....went to a local eatery after Jumah prayer with Imam Zaid Shakir. Alhamdulillah, since our arrival in Irving, the community has taken care of us really well. Like since we moved in on Monday, they've been cooking food for our family everyday and once that food is finished.....well....it's breaking news right here on my xanga....i'm going on a diet....gotta shed some extra weight....ya allah....please make it easy for me.....
that's enough for now......both playing around:

when kulthoom sees her pics..she goes...me...me....and when she sees her brother she says ..bhai...bhai...masha allah....she's beside me right now and has an oreo cookie
in her hand, and you know how kids take off one of the parts and attack the cream part, well..she's doing that right now and her whole face is all messy....(come on...don't tell me you never did that when you were small....)
now i don't need to post for like another ten days......as you could tell from the pics, I didn't take the two pictures of the cities as well as that house...the rest was taken by me, myself, and nazim
btw.....if you wanna see a really pious looking Rayhan when he was three then go to kr156's xanga and check out his first post on his xanga posted on Thurs., March 11, 2004 He has a pic of little rayhan there making dua to allah....he's not as pious as he looks though :) click on this link and scroll down...he's there....where would that xanga be without that humble beginning?
first time visitors to the site, make sure you check out the cool pics of the Irving Masjid in my previous posts and come back again to hear the ramblings of a maulana in cowboy land....Insha Allah I'll be teaching at the Islamic School as well as leading up a Hifz school at: www.irvingmasjid.org
