Arabic Translation - Translate Arabic Smoothly
I highly recommend the Shariah Program to anyone who really wants to
learn Arabic and pursue Islamic studies. Since learning the Arabic
alphabet in a weekend Islamic school many years ago, I have taken
several courses in my attempts to pursue Arabic studies.
Alhamdulillah, I have gained benefit from each one of these courses,
but it wasn’t until I took the Shariah Program that I had a
clear idea of how the language works as a whole. This understanding
comes through the focus the Shariah Program puts on learning the
fundamentals of the Arabic language, Arabic vocabulary, and Arabic Translation
A student only needs to
know the letters of the Arabic alphabet to begin the program. The
course quickly goes through how these letters are constructed into
words and words put together into sentences. Unlike most courses I
have attended, there is a heavy emphasis on grammar and morphology.
To maximize the benefit of our time, we focus on the rules that have
wide application and will thus be used often in Arabic translation
exercises.
Knowledge of these fundamentals enables us to
systematically decipher the words in the sentence to understand the
meaning. Arabic Vocabulary increases daily.
Alongside our studies
in Arabic grammar and morphology, we read simple stories to practice
what we learn and increase our Arabic vocabulary. Reading these
stories with our teacher is also very motivating because even in the
early stages of the program we are able to understand and translate a
simple Arabic storybook.
The benefits of the
Shariah Program go far beyond learning the Arabic language. From the
Arabic texts we have read in the first nine months, we have learned
about stories of the prophets and the companions, the proper manners
for seeking knowledge in Islam, and many of the rules of grammar.
The
other major benefit is the companionship of the other students in the
class. Alhamdulillah, I have been fortunate to become friends with
the amazing sisters that attend the class. As we study together, and
help each other out, we get to know each other and become good
friends, alhamdulillah.
The structure of the
Shariah Program, the content, the teaching method and the people
involved make this the best course for learning Arabic that I have
ever taken.
